The Real-Time Web

by Richard Ram - Digital Strategist

Google and Bing are just two of the raft of the search focussed sites adding real-time search capabilities to their offering. Just how this will change site design and SEO will be discussed for some time to come. In the meantime here are some great resources which provide some background.

New Zealand’s very own Read Write Web has started a three part Real-Time Web series: A Primer while over at IA Television Rand Fiskin gives his view on the future of SEO and touches on how Social Media and its real-time nature will impact SEO.

An interesting read Richard. Especially the analysis on Twitter and looking at the driving factors influencing social media. A question, could you see Twitter replacing the comments on blogs and articles in the future? Or do you still see Twitter, FriendFeed and the like staying more in the realm of social, conversation remarks?

Some sites have already started to do this but I'm not sure it will catch on. It seems too out of context as the comments still appear on your Twitter stream. Same issue with games you play via Twitter, each move is recorded and tweeted.
